Reminder to Update Quire

Don't forget to update to the latest version of Quire (v0.18.2). Please see our previous newsletter for instructions.

If you are actively working on a Quire project and are nervous about making the update, here is a quick tip:

Follow the steps outlined in the newsletter to uninstall the old version and install the new version. When you open the project you are currently working on, delete the themes/quire-starter-theme/node_modules folder, and then run quire install in that project. That should do the trick!

New Quire License

Prior to Quire’s release as fully open-source software, our beta testers and new sign-ups are granted a free license to create, produce, distribute, and sell digital publications in any way they see fit. We only ask that they credit Quire and Getty and agree not to modify or distribute Quire itself.

See the full license language in the forum for details, and sign up for access here if you haven’t previously.

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

For their extensive French Paintings and Pastels, 1600-1945 collection catalogue, Nelson-Atkins built out new image and viewing features, a timeline, enhanced footnotes and glossary terms, and an improved search experience. Meghan Gray (@mgray4), Curatorial Assistant at Nelson-Atkins, noted that they are offering their NAMA theme on GitHub to help Quire become an institutional standard for museum publishing.
